by Thomas Schumacher, Producer of The Lion King with Jeff Kurtti

128 pages

$19.95

I received this book as a Christmas gift from my neighbor. Yes, this is a book for children, but it is a nice explanation of the theater, even for adults.

To help explain different aspects of the theater they use many pictures from Disney Productions such as; The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Aida, Tarzan. Included in this book is a mock theater ticket, an authentic Playbill program for The Lion King, a page of the script from Tarzan, sketches and swatches by Julie Taymor from “I Just Can’t Wait to be King”, before/after pictures of the performer for makeup, and a page of a rehearsal script.

The text of the book is clear and easy to read. I spent an enjoyable couple hours reading the book and looking at the many pictures.

I recommend this book to fellow Disney enthusiasts.

Spaceship Earth Mickey WandFrom the PassPorter Newsletter: The Mickey hand holding a magic wand and “Epcot” sign over Epcot’s iconic Spaceship Earth are being removed. The removal is expected to be complete by October 1, 2007 - Epcot’s 25th anniversary. Spaceship Earth will be completely “naked” for the first time since 1999 when the tower was erected to put up the “2000″ sign for the Millennium Celebration. During removal the east side of the walkway under the attraction may be closed periodically.

Mousefest 2006Just a reminder that MouseFest is scheduled for December 3-7 (sea) and December 7-11 (land)!

From the mousefest.org website: For many years, Disney fans from around the world have gathered at Walt Disney World in December. These like-minded folks connect through Disney-related web sites and message boards to share their love of the Most Magical Place on Earth. This year, like last year, our event encompasses a great many of these fan groups… a gathering that unites the enormous family of Disney enthusiasts from all walks of life, from all backgrounds, from all over the country, from all over the globe! MouseFest is an unofficial event; it is not organized by nor endorsed by Walt Disney World.

Currently, Brad and Brandy will be attending some of the events on December 9 & 10 while Mike Demo, the lucky dog, will be there for both land and sea events!

From the sharingmagicalmoments.com web site: Mark and Mike will be hosting two meets at MouseFest 2006! During the sea portion of MouseFest, Mike will greet listeners and newcomers aboard the Disney Wonder on Wednesday, December 6 at Diversions at 10:30 a.m. On land, Mike and Mark will both be looking to meet you at Epcot on Saturday, December 9, at the garden behind the U.K. pavilion at 11:00 a.m. before the Mega Mouse Meet. Ursula passed along an article recently regarding Disney’s upcoming movie, “Tinker Bell”. Brittany Murphy will be providing the voice of Tinker Bell and it will be the first time that audiences will hear Tinker Bell speak. The movie is scheduled for release in Fall 2007 by DisneyToon Studios and Walt Disney Home Entertainment, and once again we can expect a heavy marketing campaign with a full line of consumer products.

Stitch at World of DisneyPleasure Island is going under a refurbishment to include all age groups - not just an adult only area. Previously it had been seen as a no-kid zone smack dab in the middle of Downtown Disney. The same clubs are going to remain there to appeal to the partyers but will also appeal to folks just wanting to come and relax. Also, they have removed the turnstiles at Pleasure Island to shorten the walk between the main shopping districts — Marketplace and West Side — on either end of Downtown Disney. Disney has acknowledged that the walk is long so they’ll also be adding water taxi’s and a dock for a ferry.

To read more about the refurbishments, The Orlando Sentinel articles published on May 10, 2006 : Pleasure Island and
