We visited Magic Kingdom -- All day Saturday. Light rain,
cool, overcast. But we persevered!

Here we are in front of the Carousel of Progress in WDW Magic Kingdom. If it looks like it's cold and wet, it was -- this is February in Florida, and it was about 50 degrees that day. But that didn't dampen our day. We stayed through closing and the "Wishes" fireworks.

The four of us met in front of the castle on Saturday. The first thing we did was to go get lunch. I had made reservations at Tony's right off the main street courtyard. What a great place for lunch! We opted for indoor seating instead of the front porch/veranda, because it was warmer. And dryer.

After lunch it was time for the 3pm "Share a Dream Come True" parade. We watched it from the corner right off the townsquare plaza. It was drizzling some then too, and the big snow globes on the parade floats were all speckled with raindrops. Some of the characters even had umbrellas. At least Mary Poppins looked better with an umbrella than Snow White did.

Most of the afternoon and early evening we hit the park and did things that were uniquely WDW Magic Kingdom, and Walt Disney. We spent a good deal of time in Fantasyland, PhilHarmagic, Pinocchio, Snow White, and Peter Pan. When we visited Pooh the CM in the souvenir shop told us that she was there on the college intern program, was new to Florida, had only been there a week, and was working at Disney already! But hadn't been on the Pooh attraction yet. She asked us what it was like. Wow. That's moving them through, eh? We volunteered to hold down her spot in the souvenir shop for a half hour so she could go catch the show.

Then we had to do TomorrowLand, The People Mover, and of course "Carousel of Progress." The Carousel only lives in WDW now, and was one of the projects that Walt worked on personally back when. What a great show.

SpectroMagic was scheduled for 7pm, but at the last minute was cancelled. Too wet I guess. Fortunately "Wishes" was still on. We had time for one more round on Big Thunder.

We watched the 8pm "Wishes" fireworks from the Tomorrowland Terrace restaurant seating. It's right next to the Timekeeper theater, and at least provides some cover from the weather. I recommend it. And that night it helped kept us dry and reasonably warm. Tinkerbell does her wire slide from the castle over to Tomorrowland, right over our heads. But when it came time to do her slide, she didn't show. Too wet and drizzly I guess.

The rest of the fireworks went off as planned. There was a pretty good wind that night, and most of the smoke from the fireworks blew directly down Main Street. If that's where you were watching, you couldn't see much. But we were off to the side in Tomorrowland and could see perfectly. What a great fireworks display.

Yes, it was freaking cold that day. (For Florida anyway -- for Minnesota it was a piece of cake) Jeff and Cindy were in shorts all day (God bless 'em!). Carol and I dressed a bit warmer. Jeff finally buckled late on Saturday and bought a sweatshirt to stay warm.
